Refund Policy
Plain-language summary (FTC clear and conspicuous disclosure): Monthly subscriptions ($19/month) are non-refundable under all circumstances. Annual subscriptions ($136/year) are eligible for a prorated refund for unused months if you cancel and submit a refund request. All refund requests require owner review and are not automatic. Chargebacks filed without first requesting a refund through proper channels will be treated as fraud. Read the full policy below.
Automatic Renewal Disclosure (ROSCA / State Auto-Renewal Laws): Noema Cognition subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. Monthly subscriptions renew at $19.00/month. Annual subscriptions renew at $136.00/year. You will be charged on your renewal date unless you cancel before it. To cancel, submit a cancellation request through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period (monthly) or immediately upon approval (annual with refund request).

Subscription Plans
Noema Cognition offers two paid subscription tiers, plus a 14-day free trial that does not require a credit card. The free trial is not a paid subscription — there is nothing to refund from a free trial.

All subscriptions are billed in advance. Payments are processed through Stripe, Inc. You will receive an email receipt for each charge to the email address on your account.
Monthly Subscription — Non-Refundable
Monthly subscriptions ($19/month) are non-refundable under all circumstances. By subscribing to the monthly plan, you acknowledge and agree to this policy before completing your purchase.
Specifically, no refund will be issued for the monthly plan in any of the following situations:
- You did not use the service during the billing period
- You used the service for only part of the month
- You forgot to cancel before your renewal date
- You were dissatisfied with the service, provided the service was accessible and functional
- You changed your mind after subscribing
- Your account was suspended or terminated for violation of our Terms of Service
- You failed to read or understand this refund policy before subscribing
- You subscribed on a promotional or discounted rate (unless required by applicable law)
This policy reflects the nature of digital subscription services: service capacity is allocated to your account immediately upon subscription, regardless of your usage level. The monthly plan gives you full access throughout the paid period — the billing cycle is the unit of service, not the usage hour.
Annual Subscription — Prorated Refunds
Annual subscribers ($136/year) may request a prorated refund for the unused portion of their annual term, calculated at the monthly equivalent rate. Refunds are not automatic — you must submit a request (see Section 5).
How the prorated refund is calculated:
The annual plan costs $136.00, divided across 12 months. The per-month equivalent is $11.33/month ($136 ÷ 12, rounded to the nearest cent). If any portion of a calendar month was used — even one day — that full month is counted as a used month and deducted from your refund.
When does the cancellation take effect for annual plans?
- If you request a prorated refund: your subscription is terminated immediately upon approval. You lose access to the service on the day your refund is approved.
- If you cancel without requesting a refund (e.g., you just want to stop renewing): your access continues through the end of your paid annual term, then converts to read-only (free tier) access.
Refund requests must be submitted within 60 days of the charge in question. Requests submitted more than 60 days after the relevant charge will not be honored regardless of circumstances.
How to Cancel
Cancellation requests are submitted through your account settings inside the Noema Cognition app. Look for the "Cancel Subscription" or "Request Cancellation" option in your account or billing settings.
What happens when you submit a cancellation request:
- Your request is queued for owner review.
- You receive an email confirmation that your request was received.
- You receive a follow-up email when your request is approved or, in rare cases, if additional information is needed.
Monthly cancellations: Your subscription will not renew at the end of the current billing period. You retain full access until the period ends. No partial-month refund is issued.
Annual cancellations (no refund): You retain access through the end of your paid year. At expiry, you convert to free read-only access.
Annual cancellations with refund request: Access terminates upon approval. See Section 3 for refund calculation.

How to Request a Refund
Refunds are not processed automatically. To request a refund, you must:
- Submit a cancellation request through your account settings (see Section 4). In the request, indicate that you are requesting a prorated refund.
- Or contact us directly at noema@polsia.app with the subject line "Refund Request" and include:
- The email address on your account
- Your subscription start date
- The specific charge you are requesting a refund for
- The reason for your request (required for discretionary exception requests only)
All refund requests are reviewed by the owner before processing. Submission of a request does not guarantee approval. We will respond within 5 business days.

The total time from request to funds on your statement is typically 5–15 business days. Noema Cognition does not control how quickly your bank posts refunded amounts — the 10-business-day window is set by card networks, not by us.
For billing errors or duplicate charges, refunds are processed immediately upon verification — no owner approval delay applies for obvious duplicate charges.
Absolute Exceptions — No Refund Under Any Circumstance
The following situations result in no refund regardless of subscription type, reason, or amount of time elapsed. These exceptions are not subject to discretionary review.
- Account terminated for Terms of Service violation. If your account was terminated because you violated our Terms of Service, you forfeit any remaining subscription value. No refund will be issued.
- Chargeback filed without prior refund request. If you initiate a payment dispute or chargeback with your card issuer without first submitting a refund request through the proper channels described in this policy, your request will be denied and the account will be flagged. See Section 9.
- Requests submitted more than 60 days after the charge. We cannot process refund requests for charges that occurred more than 60 calendar days prior to your request, regardless of circumstances.
- Free tier accounts. Free trial and free read-only accounts are not charged. There is nothing to refund.
- Promotional or discounted subscriptions. Subscriptions purchased at a promotional, discounted, or coupon rate are not eligible for refund unless required by applicable law.
Discretionary Exceptions
The following situations may qualify for a refund at the owner's discretion. Approval is not guaranteed. Submit a request explaining the circumstances and we will review it.

Discretionary refunds are a courtesy, not an entitlement. Prior approval of a discretionary refund does not create an obligation to approve future requests.
Chargebacks & Payment Disputes
Filing a chargeback without first requesting a refund through the process described in this policy is a violation of our Terms of Service and will be treated as fraudulent activity.
If you are dissatisfied with a charge, the correct process is to contact us first at noema@polsia.app or submit a request through your account settings. We process legitimate refund requests promptly and fairly.
Chargebacks filed without prior contact:
- Will result in your account being permanently suspended
- Will result in the chargeback being contested with full documentation of service delivery, your agreement to these terms at signup, and this refund policy
- May result in your account being reported to fraud prevention databases used by payment processors
If your card issuer has already initiated a dispute before you contacted us, please reach out immediately at noema@polsia.app — we may be able to resolve the issue directly without the formal dispute process.
PCI-DSS note: All payment data is processed and stored by Stripe, Inc., a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Noema Cognition does not store, transmit, or have access to your full card number, CVV, or banking credentials. Disputes regarding payment processing errors should reference Stripe's services.
Automatic Renewal, Consent & ROSCA Compliance
Noema Cognition subscriptions are recurring. They will continue to bill and renew automatically until you cancel. This section satisfies the disclosure requirements of the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (ROSCA, 15 U.S.C. § 8403) and applicable state automatic renewal laws.
Before completing your purchase, you are shown the following disclosures:
- The subscription price and billing frequency ($19/month or $136/year)
- That the subscription automatically renews at the listed price unless cancelled
- That monthly subscriptions are non-refundable
- A link to this Refund Policy
- How to cancel (account settings or email)
By completing checkout, you expressly consent to:
- Being charged the stated amount on a recurring basis
- Automatic renewal until you cancel
- The refund terms described in this policy
We will send you a renewal reminder email at least 3 days before any annual subscription renewal. Monthly renewal reminders are included in your monthly receipt. You may cancel at any time through account settings before your next renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period.
FTC Cooling-Off Rule — Applicability Statement
The Federal Trade Commission's Cooling-Off Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 429) provides consumers with a 3-day right to cancel certain purchases made at locations other than a seller's normal place of business.
The FTC Cooling-Off Rule does not apply to Noema Cognition subscriptions. The rule applies to in-person sales at temporary locations (trade shows, door-to-door sales, etc.) and explicitly excludes:
- Sales made entirely online (which describes all Noema Cognition subscriptions)
- Sales of goods or services used primarily for personal, family, or household purposes where the buyer initiates the contact
- Subscription services for digital content
We acknowledge the rule and confirm that our subscriptions are sold exclusively through our website at the buyer's initiative, placing them outside the rule's scope. Your consumer rights under applicable state law and this Refund Policy remain in full effect.
Payment Processing
All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc., a third-party payment processor. Noema Cognition does not store your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account details. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's Services Agreement and Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Stripe is a PCI-DSS Level 1 Service Provider. Your payment information is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard security protocols. Noema Cognition maintains PCI-DSS compliance by delegating all payment data handling to Stripe.
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. We cannot issue refunds to a different card or bank account than the one used for the original purchase. If the original payment method is no longer valid, contact us to discuss alternative arrangements.
State Consumer Protection Laws
This policy is designed to comply with applicable federal law and the consumer protection laws of all U.S. states. Some states have specific automatic renewal and subscription disclosure requirements. Key state compliance notes:

Nothing in this policy is intended to waive any rights you may have under applicable law. If any provision of this policy conflicts with an applicable law that cannot be waived, that law governs.

Dispute resolution: Any disputes arising from this Refund Policy or any billing matter are governed by the dispute resolution and arbitration provisions in our Terms of Service, including the binding arbitration clause and class action waiver. Governing law is the State of Delaware, United States.
Policy updates: We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to active subscribers at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
